You might have missed it in the torrent of news on site (*cough*), but 2007 has been a rather eventful year
for D.o.T., all in all. We've lost our frontperson, and moving on regardless we suddenly seem to have a
side project going on; System of a Dawn, a System of a Down tribute.
Originally
a one-off event for a birtday party, we thought it was a bit of a waste to have worked for months on an hour
worth of SOAD songs, to forget all about them after just the one gig. So, next stop, the tribute/cover scene. We're currently
listed on the brand new 'CoverBattle', to be fought out in Saturnus in Scheveningen.
Check
the Saturnus website for more info.
The D.o.T. experience will also go on and on, of course.
Personal news; I've got me a new baby! Yesterday I maxed out my bank account and bought me a shiny new made-in-Holland Bo~el 7-string. De MC-7 is a signature model for Dutch shredmaster Marcel Coenen, plays like a dream and looks like one too, the pics on the Bo~el website look a bit cheap and really don't do her justice. I'm happy as a clam.
Site news: I give up, the spammers have won, for now. The amount of spam in our guestbook became absolutely ridiculous so I took it offline. There will be a new GB shortly, probably with one of those "type this word first" anti-spam thingies.
That's about it for now, I guess.

Due to holidays, D.o.T. will be unable to play the semifinals for the BeachBattle on May 26th. Unfortunately all
other bands seemed to have the same problem, so swapping dates was out, too.
We have no choice but to totally withdraw from the competition.
A big thanx goes out to the Saturnus crew for all the efforts so far.
Site news: Guestbook pages changed again tot confuse the spambots for a while. Die Spammers Die. Slow and painful.
A note to our Dear Readers: please, *please* stop buying stuff from spam e-mails or links in guestbooks. My heart
goes out to the victims of the apparent pandemic of erectile dysfunctions, but please just go see a doctor or something.

And here's some more...
As of yesterday, Dawn of Time and singer Sander Fraissinet have parted ways.
No 'musical differences' or crap like that, the chemistry was just gone and it was time for a change.
There's been no fights or bitter arguments, we even got together for a beer and chats after 'The Talk'.
No hard feelings on either end, we hope. We wish Sander many good things in future projects, and yes, we actually
*do* mean that, you cynical bastards.
If you're looking for a singer and like what he does, contact him at -sander at dawnoftime.com-.
So now what? Well, it's certainly not the end of the D.o.T! Spike is going to pick up the lead vocals for a while and I'll try to do some backing. Things like this often trigger more changes, so we're not going to put up 'singer wanted' posters until we know exactly what we want.
Don't let that stop you from applying for the 'job' if you think you can handle it, though. Bring some
confidence on stage, an interesting range of vocal abilities (think System of a Down - high and low, sweet and brutal),
a laid-back sense of humor and some casual professionalism to the Haags
Popcentrum in Loosduinen (The Hague) on any Saturday night between 7 and 10.
Please leave any attitude issues and substance abuse at the door; we're no angels, but no Guns 'n Roses either.

For a band that's, let's say, not always very active in the PR department, there suddenly seem to be some things going on. So here's some bits and pieces to chew on. It's gonna be a bit like a rambling blog entry I guess, but what the hell.
First off, after a general lack of creative inspiration for about a year, we're finally writing again. The first new song is called Precious Time (is wasted), a pretty heavy grinder with plenty of singalong potential. We like it, and we hope you do as well.
Next, we have fans. Sure, we've had fans. But these people are absolutely fucking crazy. Yes, Evita and Len, I mean you.
Creating a D.o.T. fansite at Hyves, the Dutch equivalent of MySpace, wasn't nearly enough for them.
Get this: these kids have actually gotten the D.o.T. logo *tattooed*. Like, with actual needles and ink, on their actual bodies, and stuff.
For real.
I still don't know what to think of it, but proud we are, oh yes!
I don't think there's a chance to top that (and I don't think I want to, either). But I'd still like to mention, in passing,
that we've won the quarter finals of the BeachBattle.
We were up against some stiff (and loud!) competition in Bitter Harvest and -especially- our friends from
Apparition, who were really on fire Saturday.
Winning is nice of course, but even without that we had a great evening with cool people all over the place.
We were happy even before the results came up.
So, on the the semies we go.
There's also been rumours of us playing a local outdoor festival somewhere in August, but details are sketchy. Watch the Dates page.
Oh, and another thing, just for kicks I had some custom D.o.T. guitar picks made. They're pretty cool, if you want one be right in front of the stage at the next gig!
Site news:
This site is ancient, and don't I know it. It's also a bitch to update. I'm working on a complete makeover,
with -hopefully- some actual interaction-like thingies. Web 2.0 and all that. Besides the obvious need for some new shit,
it will provide opportunities for YOU, our valued customer, to add content. Or, in other words, you can put up your own
damn news and pictures ;-)
Speaking of pictures, I have tons lying around. Not only did we do a new photoshoot some time ago, but there's also dozens of great live pics, shot mainly by the lovely Astrid. I'm getting them online babe, I promise...
So all in all there's lots to come. In the mean time, check the Hyves site mentioned earlier for fan-based news.
I know I will.
I finally removed the live songs from the Sounds page because they were old and crappy. The studio stuff is
still there, now including an official Creative Commons license (that means you can still get it for free).
And yes, Break of Dawn is still out, and it's still now. So sue me.
